Oral surgery and the option of general anaesthesia

Research has shown that the loss of a tooth can gradually lead to the collapse of the entire bite and the loss of several other teeth. Missing teeth cause teeth movement and bite problems, can affect the appearance of the

face, and can lead to headaches, speech problems, and neck tension. The best solution is dental implants. Difficulties with sitting still, fear of dental surgery, fear of pain, and reluctance to have an aspirator in the mouth can all be alleviated with procedures under general anaesthesia.

Sanja Ratković, dr. dent. med.

dr. dent. med.

Employed at the Medical Centre Rogaška. She graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry in Belgrade in 2006, and the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana attested her diploma in 2013. In addition to her work, she undergoes further professional training in Slovenia and abroad, especially in the field of endodontics.

Asis. Žiga Kovačič, dr. dent. med.

specialist in maxillofacial surgery

Assis. Žiga Kovačič, MD, is a specialist in maxillofacial surgery at the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana in 2008 and completed his specialisation in maxillofacial surgery in 2017. During his specialisation, he also studied abroad with the world-renowned Professor Yu Ray Chan. He is also an assistant professor at the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. He is active in the Slovenian Association for Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery – ZMOKS and in the committees of the Medical Chamber of Slovenia.
