Vascular surgery

The clinic for vascular surgery performs specialist examinations and diagnostics (ultrasound of the arteries and veins). Upon request, the clinic also carries out all methods for varice treatment, also those aesthetically disturbing.

Upon examination, the method of treatment is agreed upon by the patient and the doctor. The doctor will suggest treatment methods according to the situation of the individual.

After treatment, there is much that you can do for yourself with preventive measures.

The clinic performs the medical treatment of the veins with sclerotherapy (injection of a sclerosing solution into the vein) and by operational procedures in the vascular system: phlebectomy (removal of varicose veins under local anaesthesia) and endovenous laser therapy.

Chronic venous insufficiency is diagnosed by mapping the Duplex vein. In the first phase, chronic venous insufficiency is not dangerous although painful. The doctor strives to reduce the pain and swelling and presents you with preventive measures.

In the second phase with formed skin lesions, the disease is serious and it is urgent to start the treatment. The diseased veins are treated surgically or with sclerotherapy which seals the vein so it can no longer carry blood, and the blood is diverted into healthy veins in the area. In all treatment phases, we use the compression therapy with socks in order to compress the veins from the outside and prevent the flow of blood towards the ankles.

Endovenous laser or radio frequency therapy Veins may also be treated with an endovenous laser or radio frequency therapy. Through heat, the vein shrinks and can no longer carry blood. The advantage of this method is the rapid recovery and the patient will be able to stand on his/her feet immediately after the procedure. A compression stocking will allow him/her to move freely. There usually is not a great amount of pain, except for the feeling of stiffness in the thigh due to the shortened vein treatment.

ClariVein is the new state-of-the-art method for the treatment of veins close to the surface, which is gaining recognition as an alternative method to laser procedures inside veins and radio-frequency procedures. It is performed without general or local anaesthesia on the site of the treatment of affected main veins close to the surface.  The method is safe and effective. I recommend it in the first place to elderly people with comorbid conditions or damaged skin in the thigh area, as well as to everyone who cannot stand injections.
